September is Suicide Awareness Month – Covid-19 has introduced extraordinary circumstances that provide new challenges, especially when it comes to mental health. With social distancing and a sea of masks instead of faces, we might feel more isolated– mentally and physically. Add on the stress that is entailed with living in a pandemic, and it becomes apparent that mental health is a bigger issue than ever.

With this in mind, NAMI Tallahassee remains dedicated to providing support for those in need by continuing classes and support groups and hosting events online. For Suicide Awareness Month, NAMI is pleased to announce that the Bluebird Run/Walk for Brookie B will be held virtually. Family to Family and Peer to Peer classes begin in September, also via Zoom.

As September 10th, International Suicide Awareness Day, approaches, remember, only one in four survivors of suicide loss seeks help.  Information for classes and presentations are provided in this newsletter. You are not alone.
