NAMI Tallahassee Educational Programs

Across the country, thousands of trained NAMI volunteers bring peer-led programs to a wide variety of community settings, from churches to schools to NAMI Affiliates. With the unique understanding of people with lived experience, these programs and support groups provide outstanding free education, skills training and support. Most are available in Spanish and Online. Please note that NAMI programs are not open to student or professional observation.
NAMI Basics
NAMI Basics is a class for parents, guardians and other family caregivers who provide care for youth (age 22 or younger) who are experiencing mental health symptoms.

NAMI Family-To-Family
NAMI Family-to-Family is a class for families, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental health conditions, increase coping skills and empower participants to become advocates for their family members. This program was designated as an evidence-based program by SAMHSA.

NAMI Peer-To-Peer
NAMI Homefront
NAMI Homefront is a free, 6-session program for family, friends and significant others of military Service Members and Veterans. The class helps families understand what the Service Member/ Veteran is experiencing related to trauma, combat stress, civilian life transition, PTSD and other mental health conditions.

- NAMI Ending The Silence – NAMI Ending the Silence is a presentation designed for middle and high school students, school staff, and parents or guardians of middle or high school aged youth. Audiences learn about the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions, how to recognize the early warning signs and the importance of acknowledging those warning sign

NAMI FaithNet – NAMI Tallahassee offers the NAMI FaithNet community presentations to all faith communities. The presentation includes “Bridges of Hope,” a PowerPoint presentation. FaithNet also offers articles and links to related sites; service planning materials; on-line support handouts; bulletin inserts; and much more.
- NAMI In Our Own Voice – NAMI In Our Own Voice presentations change attitudes, assumptions, and ideas about people with mental health conditions. These free, 40, 60, or 90 minute presentations provide a personal perspective of mental health conditions, as leaders with lived experience talk openly about what it’s like to have a mental health condition.
- NAMI Sharing Hope – Sharing Hope is an outreach effort to members of the African American and other cultural communities. Lack of information and misconceptions surrounding mental health issues prevent many members of these communities from getting the help and support they need. NAMI-Tallahassee has materials and volunteers available to provide information that can help increase mental health awareness in minority communities.
