NAMI Tallahassee awarded “Strengthening Our Alliance” Grant

NAMI Tallahassee is proud to announce receipt of a one-time grant from the National Alliance on Mental Illness, intended to expand and support NAMI programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

NAMI FaithNet, a presentation offered by NAMI volunteers to area faith-based communities (FBCs), is an ongoing program available in Leon and surrounding counties. With the funding from our national office, NAMI Tallahassee will expand our outreach and train additional volunteer presenters. The presentation includes “Bridges of Hope,” a PowerPoint presentation. FaithNet also offers articles and links to related sites; service planning materials; on-line support handouts; bulletin inserts; and much more.

For the period November 2020 through April 2021, Mark McMillan, an active NAMI Tallahassee volunteer and FaithNet program leader, will be working to recruit new FaithNet presenters.  The training for leadership is relatively brief and new presenters can start right away working with the affiliate to offer FaithNet to their own faith communities and to others.

For more information on becoming a NAMI FaithNet program leader or to schedule a presentation at your place of worship, please email admin@nami-tallahassee.org.
