April 6 through May 11 – NAMI “Homefront” Online Class Begins – Register Now

2020-08-05T21:28:06-04:00

Two class times available beginning April 6-May 11 for EST

  • Monday mornings, 10am-12 noon
  • Monday evenings, 6:30-8:30pm

NAMI Homefront is a free, online 6-session program for family, friends and significant others of military Service Members and Veterans. The class helps families understand what the Service Member/ Veteran is experiencing related to trauma, combat stress, civilian life transition, PTSD and other mental health conditions.

The program is designed to help family members understand and support their Service Member/Veteran while maintaining their own well-being. NAMI Homefront leaders have personal experience with mental health conditions impacting their Service Member/ Veteran. The class is free but you are expected to attend all six sessions.

Now offered online! We understand that attending an in-person class can be difficult for busy individuals and families. We now offer NAMI Homefront Online. Online classes meet weekly in a virtual classroom, so participants experience the same level of interaction and learning as traditional in-person classes. You must have access to a laptop, PC or tablet with a stable internet connection to participate. Audio will be via telephone line, a headset is recommended.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for the following sessions by timezone:  Please note two online classes offered for Eastern time zone (daytime and evening).

Eastern, Monday mornings, 10am – 12 noon or Monday evenings, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Alternate dates and times for Central and Pacific time zones are posted on the registration link below.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. All participants are screened to ensure this program is appropriate for their needs.

“Bluebird” Sponsor Tribute

Thank you, thank you to all our sponsors, runners and volunteers who helped make the ” 2019 Bluebird Run for Brookie B” such a success.   Held each year on Labor Day since 2015, this is NAMI-Tallahassee’s major fundraiser — with a focus on suicide prevention, support and education.  Please take the time to click on the photo below to hear why the Apalachee Center and Tallahassee Memorial Health Center continue to sponsor this event.  We ask you to link to all the sponsors below and remember to say “thank you” for their support.

“Memory Lane” Honors Loved Ones Lost to Suicide

Continuing this year is Memory Lane. Display frames for Memory Lane at the Bluebird Run are ready to roll on over to JR Alford Greenway on Labor Day. Memory Lane was created in remembrance of those who have died by suicide and in recognition of the resilient survivors, friends and family who volunteer, run, and walk at the Bluebird event.

How do I participate?

• Prior to the event
Before to September 1, send in your photos of your loved ones lost to suicide, and we’ll add to one of the frames created for the event.  Email as a .jpg attachment to lossteam@nami-tallahassee.org

At the event:
Or just bring your photos to the Bluebird Run on LABOR DAY, JR ALFORD GREENWAY, 8:00 A.M.  Event participants are encouraged to decorate the frames with photos of their loved ones and/or written words of encouragement, hope and healing to clothespin inside the frames. Paper decorations and other craft supplies will be available for you to use.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
